Head Coach Jim Becker has done a good job with the 2023 Ubly Bearcats Baseball Team. They split the DH to the Sandusky Wolves on Monday Night at Ruthko Memorial Field in Ubly HS. Won Game 1 4-3 & lose Game 2 3-2. Tied for 1st place in the GTCE Division right now. They got Harbor Beach & Marlette to play yet still. 2 beatable teams they got left on the schedule in GTCE Division Action. Lose 1 player to Graduation in Kyle Sweeney in the Class of 2022. 2 other ones move somewhere else. Other ones that played on Varsity came back for one more season. Assistant Coach Cade Walsh followed those players he coached on the 14U squad in the last few years. Now on Varsity. Doing very well right now on Varsity. Jim knows his Baseball very well. Won a few GTCE Division Titles in 2005, 2009, & 2013. Good DC for the Ubly Bearcats Football Team. Very nice guy overall…….
Anthony Sweeney is another good Assistant Coach for the Ubly Bearcats Baseball Team. Catcher on the 2017-18 squad for Head Coach Jim Becker. Lefty on that squad. 2018 Ubly HS Graduated. His Dad Bill was a very good Head Coach in 2003-10. 2019 as well too in Football. Went to the 2008 Division 7 State Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit. Lose 41-13 to the Traverse City St. Francis Gladiators on Thanksgiving Weekend. Manager on that squad. His Brother Nick played on the 2013 GTCE Division Crown in Baseball. 2013 Ubly HS Graduated. Do lots of work for this Community now in Ubly. Staying active & do stuff for the kids now. Stay out of trouble. Do some stuff for everyone else we do now. Stay in touch for everyone else. Bring back for the kids to learn stuff in Football & Baseball. Loves both sports. His 2 favorite ones. Michigan Wolverines Sports Fan. Cade Walsh is a Michigan Wolverines Sports as well too.
