1st year DC Matt Patricia got the job done in the 2025 College Football opener on Saturday. Held the Texas Longhorns Offense to 7 points in the victory at home. Matt put in a good game plan in this opener. They executed that one to perfection. 1 of 5 on 4th down for the Scarlet & Gray on Defense. Put in a good idea in this matchup. Steve Sarkisian is one of the best Offensive Minded Coaches in all of Football. Goal Line Stand in the 3rd Quarter. Stuffed the QB sneak from Arch Manning on 4th & goal. They answered the call for Head Coach Ryan Day. Send a good statement for this crew. Defending National Champions hasn’t slowed down at all. Way to start 1-0 on the 2025 campaign. Ryan made a good hire on Matt Patricia as DC for the Scarlet & Gray this off-season. Jim Knowles did a good job as DC in the last 3 years. Now, with the Penn State Nittany Lions in Happy Valley.
Matt Patricia had good success as DC for the New England Patriots Football Team in the NFL. Won 6 Super Bowl Titles during that time being in Foxboro, MA. He was on 4 of them for Head Coach Bill Belichick. Didn’t have good success as Head Coach for the Detroit Lions Football Team 2018-20. Better DC than he is a HC in all of Football. Head Coach Ryan Day gave Matt the green light as long as possible for the Buckeyes Defense.
Ohio State Buckeyes lost a lot of them to the 2025 NFL Draft on Defense a year ago. Lots of good new faces on the Defensive Side of the Football in 2025. They showcase their stuff very well in the opener on Saturday. Got a good 14-7 win over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday. Great crowd on task for this opener. See over 102,000 fans in attendance on Labor Day Weekend. Last time Ohio State Buckeyes beat a No. 1 team in the nation at home. Was in 1985 they beat the No. 1 Iowa Hawkeyes at home on those lousy weather conditions 40 years ago.
Texas is a good team. Game plan them very well. Got a victory no matter what. Longhorns aren’t no slouches on Defense as well too. Ryan Day is doing a good job as Head Coach for the Buckeyes since he took over for Urban Meyer in 2019. Been strong in the recruiting trail as well too. Defending National Champions ain’t slowing down at all. Unfinished business to settle in yet. Never satisfied ever. Things to clean up on still to come for the Scarlet & Gray all the way around. Defensive Staff for the Scarlet & Gray did amazing job in the opener. Keep putting the foot on the gas pedal as long as possible….. Back to work on Sunday.
