Daryn Letson has done a good job as Head Coach for the Marine City Mariners Football Team. Took over for Ron Glodich’s position in 2020. Won the League & Division 5 District Championship Title in his 1st year as Head Coach. Follow the footsteps of Marv Warkentin, Bob Staskiewicz, Tony Scarcelli, & Ron Glodich. All of them had good success during that time frame in MC. Daryn was a 1994 Marine City HS Graduated. Played & Coach for Bob in the past years. Social Studies Teacher at Marine City HS. Came back home after College. Found a teaching job at home. Knows his Football very well. Classmates & Teammates with Shawn Collins in HS. Grew up & raise in Marine City. It Is A Football Town. They love their Football in Marine City. Amazing Football Tradition. So many Championship Trophies & players that went to MC in the past years. They live & breath in Football at MC. Bob Staskiewicz was the main reason why, he turned them to a championship caliber team. What he did at Deckerville while he was the Head Coach. Look at Bill Brown has done ever since. Bill played for Bob in HS. Bill & Daryn learned that stuff from Bob in HS. They are good Head Coaches at their respective places they are at now.
Marine City went to the Division 5 State Finals in 2021. Losing to the Grand Rapids Catholic Central Cougars 31-7 at Ford Field in Detroit. November 27th, 2021. Thanksgiving Weekend. Finish the 2021 campaign at 13-1 overall record. Went to the Division 6 Semifinals on November 23rd, 2024. Lose to the eventual State Champions Jackson Lumen Christi at Novi HS. That is a powerhouse they went up against. Good RB on the roster.
They lost to the Armada Tigers 21-14 on Friday Night at Armada HS. Dandy game indeed. Losing to Armada 4 straight times in a row. Armada is a good team. Had their chances of winning that game. Stop themselves in that opener. Marine City will be a playoff team in 2025. So will Armada as well too. MC will respond after that lost in the opener. Go back to work once again. Get on a winning streak for the 2025 campaign. 0-1 on the 2025 season. I trust, Daryn Letson & his coaching staff to make good adjustments & correct on some things they can do better at moving forward to the 2025 campaign. Armada is a good team.
