Greg Gard has done a good job as Head Coach of the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Team & Program in his 5 years at the helm in Madison. Taken 4 of 5 teams to the NCAA Tournament during that tenure there. Took over for Bo Ryan after the victory against the Texas A&M Corpus Christi on December 15th, 2015. Went Back 2 Back Final Four Appearances in 2014 & 2015. Best one was on March 31st, 2015 in the Final Four Game against the Undefeated Kentucky Wildcats at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. They upset the Kentucky Wildcats also too in the Final Four. Went to the National Championship Game & lose to the Duke Blue Devils on April 2nd, 2015 in the National Championship Game. Wisconsin has always had good Defensive Teams in College Basketball on a year in & year out basis. Dick Bennett started that one & Bo Ryan kept on going for it more & Greg Gard kept going for it more & more in Madison. One of the best Scoring Defense’s in College Basketball. Defense Wins Games & Championships Period. Went Back 2 Back Sweet 16 Appearances as well too in 2016 & 2017. Went to the B1G Conference Championship Game & lose to the No. 8 Seed the Michigan Wolverines at Verizon Center in Washington DC on March 12th, 2017. They upset the Villanova Wildcats in the 2nd Rd of the 2017 NCAA Tournament at MSG in New York City on March 18th. Villanova was the Defending National Champions as well too. Lose to the Florida Gators in the Sweet 16 Game. Greg Gard has a 101-57 Head Coach Record for the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Team. Never recruited big time players in there system. Never get McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Players in there system as well too. They get 2-star recruits & 3-star recruits instead out of High School. They run a good player development system & teach them to get better & better each season. Wisconsin runs a good player development system anyways. They do it efficiently & do it right at all times. Leads them to wins & being successful at doing it on a year in & year out basis. Greg Gard was Assistant Coach to Bo Ryan for a while for the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Team & Program in Madison. Knows what he is doing on a consistent basis too. Hard working Head Coach each & everyday. Doing it in dignity & class. Go about your business all the time. Showing good stuff on the stat sheet.
