Cass City pulled a upset on Wednesday Night at USA HS against a very good squad in the Division 3 District Semifinal Game the USA Patriots. Cass City was down 27-18 at halftime over USA. In the 2nd Half things change for Head Coach Aaron Fernald & his Cass City Red Hawks Boys Basketball Team. Scoring 24 points & Defense started to play very well too. Held USA to 13 points in the 2nd Half. Made Defensive Plays in crucial times of the game. Got big Defensive Rebounds. Made things exciting for this upset minded Cass City Red Hawks in this Division 3 District Semifinal Game on USA’s home crowd. Aaron has good athletes on his squad. Made a good Football Playoff Run in the 2019 Division 7 Playoffs. Got off too a slow start of the season. They things going once again later on in the season. Playing in a brutal GTCW Division in the 2019-20 campaign. Got a upset victory against the Bad Axe Hatchets on the road in the regular season. Almost beat them at home on January 9th, 2020 at Cass City HS 38-37 lost. They where going to take on the Bad Axe Hatchets in the Division 3 District Championship Game at USA HS on Friday Night. It got cancelled. The whole MHSAA Basketball Tournament got cancelled for the rest of the season in 2020. Aaron was in Mark Gainforth Coaching Staff for the USA Patriots in his early days as a JV Boys Basketball Coach. Went to Cass City become Varsity Boys Head Coach. Resign a few times & went back at it once again. Been back there for the last 2 years. Also the Elementary Principal at Cass City as well too. Coached his Daughter Lauren for a couple of years on the girls side of things. Coaching his 2 sons in High School right now at Cass City. His 7th & 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team went 12-0 in the 2019-20 season. JV Squad went 11-9 overall record in the 2019-20 campaign. Got 2 nephews coming up in the 7th & 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team for the Cass City Red Hawks. Carter Patrick is in 8th Grade & Trent Patrick is in 7th Grade. His Brother In Law Al Patrick is the 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach for the Cass City Red Hawks. That is Aaron’s Wife Brother on the Patrick Family. Aaron played for the Brown City Green Devils Boys Basketball Team in High School & played for the Legendary Head Coach Tony Burton. 1989 Brown City HS Graduated. Played on that 1988 Boys Regional Championship Game against a good USA Patriots Squad had a 1-Pt Lead at one time & lose by 1-Pt & USA guy hit the GW Shot at the buzzer at USA HS in 1988 Class C Regional Championship Game. Best Tony Burton Team he had in 1988. Won The STA League & Class C District Title as well too. Be on that squad with Doug Muxlow that season. Aaron is also a good Basketball Coach as well too. Knows his stuff very well. Coronavirus Effect is going on too now. They had to cancel the whole MHSAA Basketball Tournament for the 2020 campaign in March.
