CPS Tigers Girls Basketball Team 2021-22 NCTL Stripes Division Champions. Got a 49-32 victory over the Akron-Fairgrove Vikings on Thursday Night at Akron-Fairgrove HS. Last they won a League Title for this program was in 1983. Head Coach Kurt Long has done a good job with these girls all season long. Knows his Basketball very well. Coached the Sandusky Redskins Boys Basketball Team in 2003-09. Didn’t work out like he wanted to out there anyways. Tons of talent for the Sandusky Boys Squad in his tenure there. Translated very well with the Girls Side things better then the Boys Side of things anyways. CPS Girls have bought into his system very well this season. Standout Sandusky Redskins Player in the 1990-91 season for Head Coach John Guttowsky. Went 19-2 overall record. Great bunch of players on that squad that Kurt played on in his Senior season. Top 5 Team in Class C also too. All-State Cross Country, Basketball, & Track & Field Athlete in his days in Sandusky. 1991 Sandusky HS Graduated. John Guttowsky, Jim Mange, & Wayne Roberts is happy of what Kurt Long has done so far so good now at CPS. Those Girls love playing for Kurt Long already now in progress. Doug Shagnea is a nice help as Assistant Coach this season. Played for Head Coach Bob Staskiewicz for the Deckerville Eagles Football Team in his HS playing days. 1985 Deckerville HS. Bob was a 1969 CPS HS Graduated. Proud of what Doug is doing with Kurt Long already now. A night to remember forever now. A good season to remember as well too. Now it is District Tournament Action on Monday at CPS HS. Not satisfied with this one at all period. Back to work this weekend & get ready for more to come for this unit next week.
