Jason Leonard doing a good job in his 2nd year as Head Coach for the Yale Bulldogs Girls Basketball Team. Took over for Bryan Goulding position a year ago. Bryan guided them to win the 2023 Division 2 District Championship Title. Lose to the Goodrich Martians in the Regionals at home. Won the BWAC Title a year ago. Lose to the Armada Tigers in the Division 2 District Championship Game. 17-6 a year ago & now they are 12-1 on the season. Jason knows his Basketball very well. Loves that sport the best.

Got the best player in the BWAC, Blue Water Area, & also in The Times Herald in Port Huron. Sadie Dykstra in the Class of 2026. Very athletic lady on the roster. You can’t coach some of those stuff he brings to the Basketball court. Loves playing this sport the best. Very good Track & Field runner in the 100M hurdles. Speed kills in all of sports. You can’t coach speed at all. You have it or you don’t have it. Sadie has phenomenal speed on the Basketball court. Top 20 player in the Class of 2026 in the State of Michigan.
Good role players on the team as well too. Sadie gives up the Basketball as well too. Not just a scorer & she is also a distributer & hit the open player when she needs to. Good team player. Everyone back from last season roster that won the BWAC title a year ago. Got a 69-62 win over the Armada Tigers on Tuesday Night at Yale HS in BWAC action. Gotta win at home & steal wins on the road in league play in any sport you do out there anyways. Saw both of them in play. 57-51 win over the Cros-Lex Pioneers on the road 2 weeks ago. Armada Tigers 69-62 at home on Tuesday Night.
They learned from that lost to the Oxford Wildcats 3 weeks ago at home in Non-Conference Action. They learned & respond from that lost. Get on a new winning streak once again now. Everyone knows Yale wasn’t going undefeated this season. Including myself too. Good group of them learn from losses. Get a new winning streak going once again. Job ain’t done yet.
Jason sister Jodi played on the 1992 Peck Pirates Girls Basketball Team that won the NCTL, Class D District & Regional Title. Lose to Auburn Hills Oakland Christian in the Class D Quarterfinals at CPS HS. Jodi & Jason had the privilege to play for John Presnell in HS for the Peck Pirates. John was a great Head Coach & person he was to everyone else. John & Josh will tell that the Greatest Sanilac County Girls Basketball Team was the 1986 Peck Pirates. Went 27-0 on the campaign. Class D State Champions. They were loaded indeed. Char Durand, Colleen Bradley, Debbie Cowley, Shelly Parker, & company. Great group of ladies in the program.
Doesn’t like the NBA at all. Not too many people do. Likes what the Michigan Wolverines Basketball Team is playing out there. Dusty May doing good work in his 1st year at the helm. 15-5 on the campaign. Got a comeback win over the Penn State Nittany Lions on Monday Night at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. 76-72 win at home. Finish the game on a 9-0 run. Tre Donaldson took over the game for the Maize & Blue. Career high 21 points in that one. I liked that hire AD Warde Manual made a year ago. Paid dividends so far so good…..
