Branden Sorenson has done a remarkable job as Head Coach for the Ubly Bearcats Boys Basketball Team & Program in his 2nd year at the helm. Despite the 0-2 start of the 2021 campaign. They went on a long winning streak. Coaches & Players have worked very well together as a unit this season. Players have bought into that system very nicely indeed. Got a nice victory over the Brown City Green Devils on Wednesday Night at Ubly HS 48-42. Had a losing season a year ago. Turn things around in his 2nd season at the helm. Last time Ubly had a good team was in the 2011-12 campaign with Head Coach Ken Pichla & Marshall Leipprandt at the helm. Won a share of the GTCE Division Crown with the Harbor Beach Pirates. Branden played on a very good squad himself in his Senior season for the Ubly Bearcats Boys Basketball Team in the 2008-09 campaign with Joel Kaufman & company. Went 18-4 overall record. Finish 2nd in the GTCE Division behind the Brown City Green Devils. Went to the Division 8 State Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit & lose to the Centreville Bulldogs on January 22nd 22-0. Played on the State Runner-Up Squad in 2008 on the Football Team that lost to the Traverse City St. Francis Gladiators at Ford Field in Detroit. Bill & Eric Sweeney, Joel Leipprandt, & Richard Holdship are proud of what Branden Sorenson has done for himself as a Basketball Player & Coach now at Ubly. 2009 Ubly HS Graduated. Went to Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. AD at Ubly Schools right now. Took over for Aaron Maurer’s position now. Aaron moved of state instead. Branden has done remarkable work year round. Players & Coaches couldn’t be at the school this past summer because of the COVID-19 Pandemic that was going on now still in the Whole World we live in now. Working on there Basketball Game on there own. Doing workouts at home too. Players love playing for Branden Sorenson for the Ubly Bearcats Boys Basketball Team right now. Well liked by the Ubly Community. Class Act Individual. Dedicated year round guy. Good mindset of stuff he does very well for everyone else. Good understanding of the game. Knows what he is doing now. Big GTCE Division Championship Game on Friday against the Harbor Beach Pirates at Ubly HS. Remembers Jordan Bitzer in his playing days for the USA Patriots in all 4 sports in High School in 2002-06. Standout Basketball Player for the USA Patriots & CMU Chippewas as well too.
