Al DeMott has done a phenomenal job with the 2023-24 Sandusky Wolves Girls Basketball Team. Went 21-1 in the regular season. Losing 8 seniors off the roster in the last 2 years. Win with a young team this season. Won 4th straight GTCE Division Titles in a row. 3rd straight outright GTCE Division Titles. Only lost they had on the schedule was to the Harbor Beach Pirates on January 2nd, 2024 at Harbor Beach HS. Had the lead on them at halftime. Lost the lead & the game. They respond very well after the lost to HB. Went on a long winning streak instead. Kept their composure thru out the season has rolled along. Never got rattled & just play ball period. They commit to playing summer basketball & carry that one over to the season. Prepare this moment they are in now. Led to 21 wins in the column. They buy into Al’s system very well. Just do what got you hear the 1st place. Focus on one thing at a time. Go to school on time. Learn new things in the classroom. Carry that one over to Basketball practice into the games. Stay dedicated at Basketball as well too. Work together as a team. Stay together as one family. Stay in touch with everyone. Play as a team. Not criticize one another. Encourage & Trust one another to have success in the classroom & also on the playing court. Cheer on your teammates in a right matter. Lost 3 starters off the roster a year ago. 2 starters back Helena Long & Grace Guibord. Adalee Kaufman came off the bench a year ago. Gave them a good lift off the bench. Took over as a starter this season. Sophomore Maggy Keinath giving them a good lift as a starter this season. On the JV a year ago. Made a nice transition from one level to another one. Caroline Reinke giving them a good lift as a Freshman PG on Varsity. Help out the other ones to succeed. Making a nice impact all season long. Making plays on both sides of the court. Doing it all. 2 players come off the bench giving them a nice lift as of late. Both juniors Emma Minard & Lily Betts. Giving them good minutes when the season has rolled along. Young team & playing very well for what they have in store. 21-1 on the campaign. Al makes a good difference in people’s lives. Getting them good jobs after their playing days are over. Changing their lives around. Just make things count for everyone else. Make a good run in the Division 3 State Tournament. They are in the Vassar District. Starts on Wednesday for the Sandusky Wolves in the Division 3 Semifinal Game. Take on either Reese Rockets or the host Vassar Vulcans. Al will have this troops ready to go on time. Play with a lot of heart & determination. Just play your game & let the game come to you. Listen to your coaches & teammates. Make it count for yourself & everyone else in attendance. Have that desire to go as far as you want to. Win with dignity & class. Compete with the best of them. Make it count in the biggest game you wanna be in.
